How to Nail Your Wet Weather Wedding Plan!

You’ve imagined blue skies, golden hour portraits, guests sipping cocktails in the sun... but the forecast says rain. Panic not. A wet weather plan doesn’t have to ruin your wedding, it can actually save it. With the right prep, you’ll still have a day that’s seamless, stylish, and full of joy (umbrellas and all). Here are our top tips for creating a Plan B that feels just as good as Plan A!

  1. choose a backup you actually like

Choose a wet-weather backup that you’d be happy with even if the sun never makes an appearance. Whether that’s a gorgeous stretch tent, a clear marquee, or a characterful indoor space nearby, or just staying put - you need to wake up in the morning and not fear the rain.

2. Prep Your Suppliers

Make sure your supplier team knows the wet weather plan well in advance. From florists to caterers to the band, everyone needs to know where they’ll set up if things shift. The earlier you communicate, the smoother the switch will be, no surprises, no stress.

3. Set a Decision Deadline

Aim to make the call 24–48 hours before the big day. It gives everyone time to adjust and keeps you out of last-minute chaos mode. Trust us- deciding early is way less stressful than watching the skies on the morning of your wedding. Don’t forget, if the sun does then appear, we can always move guests outside as it’s happening!

4. Trust your team

You’ve chosen your suppliers for a reason, let them do what they do best. If the weather shifts, lean on your planner, stylist, caterers, and celebrant. They’ve likely handled a wet wedding or two and know exactly how to pivot calmly and beautifully. The best thing you can do? Take a breath, hand over the reins, and focus on soaking up every moment

5. Embrace it

You can still get the dreamiest photos in the rain. Just come prepared with an aesthetic umbrella and a go-with-it attitude. Imagine not embracing the rain on the biggest day of your life - don’t let it interfere with your mood!
